ACLAS offers individualized and flexible Spanish immersion programs for diplomats assigned to Spanish-speaking countries. These programs combine Spanish language study with the opportunity to learn about the diplomatic environment in Latin America. Students also experience the culture and lifestyle behind Latin Americaīs diplomatic world by sharing life with a carefully selected Ecuadorian family.

The purpose of this program is to enable diplomats to satisfy the Spanish communication needs they confront in daily life and in diplomatic spheres. Program focus varies according to the student's area of responsibility in his/her embassy (political, commercial, administrative, etc.). 

To meet their communication needs, Spanish for Diplomats Program participants will work on and utilize the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The program combines these skills with appropriate non-verbal communication strategies assuring that participants understand native speakers properly and that native speakers, in turn, understand participants in the daily life and work contexts mentioned above.

In addition to language training, this program provides participants the opportunity to take weekend trips to places of interest to him/her. During these trips, the participant can live first-hand experiences, practice Spanish in real life situations, become more knowledgeable about Spanish-speaking culture(s) and learn about Ecuadorīs indigenous cultures as well.
